Adult Development League (ADL)

The Adult Development League is an opportunity for adult recreational players to maximize their fun quotient in the sport of ice hockey by learning to play the team game.

Am I ready for the ADL?

This Adult Development League was created to bridge the gap from taking players who are learning individual skills like skating, passing, shooting, and puck control and adapting those skills with other players in a game time environment.

Who’s ADL for?

The Adult Development League is designed for those players that are:

All adults must be 18+

Must have full hockey gear

12-week Sessions on Thursday evenings 

Each team will have a dedicated coach

Coaches draft their teams after registration

One-on-one, individualized coaching

Coaching

You will have an experienced and knowledgeable coach teaching you the game. Each coach wants to develop each of his players to their full potential!

Camaraderie

As you develop as a team, you will experience a great sense of camaraderie with your teammates which is what makes team sports so great.

Consistency 

Play on the same night every week with the same group of players of a similar skill level who are all there for the same reason…to learn and have fun! 

Organization

The coach and our NAHA staff will take care of everything for you. You just need to show up and learn!

Fun

Once you start experiencing the fun of the Adult Development League, you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

The ADL will run for 12 weeks and each team will have a dedicated coach for the entire session. Each session will include a warm up, a short practice and instruction, and then it is game time! You will play a game every week, and the ADL will run continuously every 12 weeks while there is interest. View the current schedule.

Mike Kiene, ADL Coach

Mike Kiene (pronounced Key-Nee) is originally from Hartford Connecticut and has lived in several states lastly from The Tampa Bay area. He moved to Madison in 2009. He, his wife, and daughter really enjoy the Huntsville area and what it has to offer. Mike comes from a hockey family where at the age of five he started playing youth hockey. Mike played all throughout High School and in collegiate levels. He has been involved in playing or coaching roles ever since. Here in Huntsville, he has been coaching the Adult Development Program (ADP) Learn to Skate program for the last 2 years as well as playing in the Senior Open League (SOL) league.
